╟┐ ┌╢▐ ╠╪═════════════════: Ox Vox: DEF CON 25 Badge Hack :═════════════════╪╣▐ ╟┘ └╢▐ ║ The Ox Vox was an add-on for the DEF CON 503 and BSides PDX ║▐ ║ 2017 badges. It not only equips the original Oregon Trail ║▐ ║ themed wagon badge with an ox, it also transforms the ║▐ ║ badges into a synthesizer. The Ox Vox adds an audio ║▐ ║ interface to the badge by providing a 8-key keyboard, ║▐ ║ amplifier, and speaker. The synthesizer uses wavetables to ║▐ ║ generate audio on a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) pin. The ║▐ ║ PWM signal is smoothed with a low-pass filter on my add-on ║▐ ║ into a sine wave and amplified before being fed out to the ║▐ ║ speaker. The OLED display was also repurposed to show the ║▐ ║ current note being played. ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ ║▐ ║ The original version of the Ox Vox was designed, fabricated ║▐ ║ (in-house), and developed in just over a week before DEF ║▐ ║ CON 25. Similar to the Cigar Mic, the Ox Vox add-on was ║▐ ║ created without having access to the badge and based on ║▐ ║ information (physical size and electronic information) ║▐ ║ reversed from a single photo.
